Valued prospective clients. It is with deep regret that we must inform you Roman Engineering will cease marketing heated driveway systems in New York State. The State's leadership is pursuing a new energy code, to be effective only in New York, that will make it very hard to pass the proposed "societal Impact test" of every system. These are the same type of people who earlier took away natural gas as Roman's fuel of choice.
This is not meant to be a commentary on any element of the State government. Code Enforcement Officers go out (unarmed) every day to enforce the eight Code volumes of New York State law, many times with local zoning thrown in. The Civil Service work experience requirements for these CEO positions are some form of experience in the building construction industry. Enforcing the proposed energy code would require a Ph.D. in engineering science. The Code purveyors simply instructed the CEOs to make the applicant hire a Ph.D. I have plenty of other questions for Ph.Ds. without involving driveways.
For the benefit of all parties, the Code Industrial Complex has evolved into a quadrennial cycle. New York State is up to date with its codes. It is unwise to jump the gun further and push New York State further as a disadvantage to other States. The sponsors of this code upgrade, of course, said they consulted all stakeholders before drafting their proposal. Roman is the only pure play heated driveway company in New York. No one contacted Roman. If you are reading this as an elected official with a vote on this, please consider rejecting it. And ask for a very rigid accounting of the numbers.
Roman Power LLC has been formed to carry the lance of renewable/sustainable energy. RomanDriveways.com will be taken down shortly.
